Each test contains 13 multiplication & 13 division problems.
Use these tests to assess for speed of recall, accuracy of multiplication & division facts, and the understanding of the inverse relationship between the two.
I do not use these as timed tests. I give a reasonable amount of time to complete the tests, then give more time later in the week. I allow only 1 error or less to pass. Retakes can happen within the same week or a later week.
I combine these tests with an ice cream party where each tests earns them things at the party---everyone will get ice cream and toppings. This helps create motivation to learn the problems and be accurate.

My students are finding these easy to take. It also helps students to realize they can use the inverse relationship to help them figure out the ones they get stuck on.
Remind students to think of multiplication as # of groups x # of items in each group = the total # of items
Division is taking the Total # of items separated into # of equal groups = the # of items in each group.
Standards:
MIMath.Content.3.NBT.A.3
Multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 in the range 10–90 (e.g., 9 × 80, 5 × 60) using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
MIMath.Content.4.NBT.B.5
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
